Who do you think with the additions of Marcao (Direct Action) on drums in place of Noh, the sound of Dead Fish has become more aggressive?

Maybe, I liked the most punk of the Noh play. With Marcao gain in speed as well, it's kind of touching up clock dai won on some things that we are realizing, aggression is one.


How is the impact of the new CD "Against All"? It has been said which is right in the first row of the band (Help yourself and Dream Middle). Do you agree?

I do not agree that the line is serve yourself, but on DREAM MIDDLE in real to me today is a DREAM MIDDLE done by older people, more hopeless and even more angry. Has the elements of spontaneity of the ZERO-ONE as well.


And the shows this new CD. How have you been?

It's been good, in real time did not feel as comfortable on stage. The public has also helped, I finally understood what the DPP wants a show and is flowing beautifully.


How did you come from the hardcore scene in Brazil, and current at the time the band started? They think they improved or worsened?

And much improved in several aspects such as recording, workforce that understands the fuck all, and dissemination. And the worse part of everybody's help, do not have this divide, but to add, not to mention that folks born today not wanting to sound itself but rather something that makes success.

But broadly I think too many people doing good things around, and the best in the entire country.


Currently the band is only with Philippe on guitar. Why the decision to be alone with a guitar?

The decision was his. We gave him the option to call someone he liked to play with us, but he preferred to be alone and I think we gain in live weight.


As you analyze the evolution of the band, since the first CD ("Help yourself") to the last album, "Against All"?

Here we are 18 years right? I think it's inevitable we evolve, although we often find that a bit conservative in some respects, I see that we create something that gives us and our pride and for me is the most important.


The letters from you and explore problems in society and the individual itself. The band has some connection with some social movement and / or political?

I do most of the letters and independence have always wanted to say what he wanted, many old letters contradict with new and this is part of that plan. We sympathize with many social movements have always yes, but it was never my intention nor our we affiliated with any party or idea built out. I think we grew up living our contradictions and certainties with great intensity and always talking internally, which would be complicated if "we buy" a format you know? Is already a good size being a band of hardcore.

Of course we always had our ideas independently and individually. I for my part I was always more left, I made up campaign pro Lula in 89 and then wished away, she had a personal war with my dad on the left and right not just completing it because he died in 1996, not to mention that I am vegetarian and I believe that people can be much better not eating animals.


Still speaking of letters, the first CD you have a letter defending the MST. You still continue with that same thought?


I think this is still one of the few movements that have clear ideas of its proposal. I do not agree with some of them, especially a part of their training Maoist ideology. But I still have a lot of confidence in the work of the guys.


Are you going through Uberlândia two times in two very different phases of the band. The first tour at the "Aphasia" and the second time now with a CD released by a label. Some memory of these two shows (besides the unfortunate fact that they were stolen the second time)?

Hahahahaha, I had almost forgotten that I lost all my documents there. Even gave up driving definitely there when I took the driver's coat and he liked most. But this is past, let it go, fuck it, we know who it was who made the arrest and still do not understand quite right.

What is relevant is that the shows there have always been good, the tour of the aphasic met a lot of people who knew only by letter and it was great. I remember it was a large shed and muuuuuito was hot, we took a ride around town and it was fucking.


And speaking of the national scene ... which bands you go listen and show our readers the pros?

This week I spent listening to some old stuff from AC / DC and BB King, some bands like Vieja Escuela Argentina, Nueva Etica and Boom Boom kid. I downloaded the new Rancid I heard little to have an opinion and have heard no stopping the new Propagandhi called Supporting Caste, this work scares me so good I thought.

Bazookas have heard of the Monkey Bong I think too much and the last of Discarga who had heard little so far.


And the "Dead Fish Project? Any plans to release something?

Do not think of anything about it, but Aly always wanted to resurrect this shit hahahahahaha.


Just before you close the contract with Deck, Dead Fish almost ended its activities. How do you evaluate the output of independentee entry for a label? Positive and negative points.

Points definitely had very positive and some negative. The positive power for four years has been concentrating on music and live it that was what we wanted. The negative is that we always find difficulties with the way we think and what the mainstream is a superficial thing, nor acknowledge this, we have made this option so we can not complain, but actually happened a few clashes of ideas for a while.

We used to have a larger dialogue with contractors and people linked to independent, for a time it was a bit off because we were living inside a reality long run, no longer were we were negotiating our shows and some of our interviews and it ended up moving us away by a time that we liked, who were involved in the same scenario that we came independent. Over time we learned the knack of it and we are approaching, or trying again from people we knew and trusted in the past.

Besides I can not complain, we had our space on TV, in some radios that never touch us if we were independent touched our sound and that's it, done what should be done as best as possible.
It certainly changed the routine of all of the band.



Rodrigo, you still have some contact with the teaching profession or is only on stage?

I should have a job man, honestly, but I'm so fucking bum I just leave everything for later. In the real could have written more, studied more and even finding a new path for me individually in the past four years. But live music is so fun and so good that I may pay dearly in the near future. All right, choices right guy.



Whenever we hear Dead Fish, we have the idea of letters interesting and well made with a sound that fits perfectly inside the Hard Core melodic, without prejudice or falling into the "emoismo. What is the process of composing an album of Dead Fish?

We've been through several processes face, since the music comes first and I fit the bill or have a melody and voice out there doing riffs, lyrics to music that became ready. Do not force ourselves to have a formula, force ourselves to like what we're doing. In this work, I made a lot along with Phil is a guy who cares a lot for the sound of it, sometimes he came with a riff and I was throwing up an idea, or sometimes, as in the song "Hot" I arrived with The first stanza and built upon. The rest were Jams studio and a pre-production work was well worth it, because we recordable every day and saw time on singing and we were stirring, until we're satisfied.
