Culture in Weight: First, I thank the time the band to make the interview.

Rob: I thank you on behalf of Banda ODUM, the support and attention of Culture in weight. It is worth noting that this is our first interview for a vehicle of communication in Brazil.

1 - Listening to the EP that came to my hands, the first feeling I had was hardcore tribal. This distinguishes the band's sound to the other and adds a lot of quality. Where did the idea of merging the sound that way? What are the influences of the band?

The ideas came naturally. From the beginning, me and Gus (Earl, drummer) rehearsing in the '1, 2, 3 '(marking the time of a song) to see what happens outside or sometimes one of the two already had ideas to compose in the studio. And this, after many tests, as they are, emerged the music format. As a painting, you mix all colors and decorate as you feel more comfortable. The influences come from our day-to-day.

2 - The choice by singing in English is because the band is based in Los Angeles (California, USA). But you do not think of doing some work for the Brazilian public?

Initially yes, the band sings in English because we are in Los Angeles. But if you watch, there are parts here and there of our songs sung in Portuguese. Definitely, we'll make some special sounds for the Brazilian public.

3 - Four years after starting the activities, what you tell us about this international experience? The band feels that the most difference when it comes to Brazil?

The best school ever, in our case, was living here in the United States. Far from family, and we turn around and learn all alone, without help from almost anyone. This leaves us stronger in all aspects. Brazil is the best place in the world, but the fields for job opportunities are limited.

4 - Can you detail the work done with Steve Tushar (FEAR FACTORY, KORN, MEGADETH)? What he might bring the band in terms of evolution?

Steve worked with us in the mixing of our first demo in 2005, where we had the opportunity to add our music tools used in modern super bands like Fear Factory. It was a very big learning in terms of technology mastering.

5 - What the band made between 2006 and 2008?

During this period, the Odum was forced to pause in activities due to changes in training. The band spent much time locked in the studio, rehearsing, discussing production policies and their future.

7 - The band has been working in the quest to sign a contract with Roadrunner Records. What possible outcome of this work?

Well, just to clarify. We're not exactly looking to sign with Roadrunner. Of course we would like, however, this possibility depends on them. We are not counting on it. The band, first, you must do what they like without relying on bureaucracies and contracts.

8 - What is the theme of the band in their lyrics and what they expect the fans to hear the music?

Energy, vitality, strength, passion, faith, hope and everything indicates positivity.

9 - What the second half to book the ODUM? What plans and projects are in view of the group?

Submit a new concept of live show with a circus of dreams and nightmares ...

10 - It was announced that there will be another change in line-up and that you are looking for a woman to the guitar of choice. Why?

We already have a female bassist, the American Liz B., who was chosen during hearings held in recent months in our studio. The preference for a female guitarist also left her. But we are testing guitarists of both sexes.

11 - What was the best show of the band?

Bakersfield, California, held in January 2006 during the first tour of ODUM, the west coast of the United States.
