Questions: Mrcos Paulo
Answers: Another Chance
- Another Chance And there, all right? You have recently launched the first demo of the band, right? How was the recording process of this material and has been receptive to the public?
Hello Marco Paulo, fine man. So, we launched. The reality is that it took more than imagined. Not that the recording process was relatively fast, as recorded live in a few hours, but because it was missing attitude - the decision to go to studio and record. She came with a friendly pressure. We have not tested for some time and is very little, was a friend when our (Thiago Tavares), who helps organize the events "Uberlândia Hardcore," gave us a push saying more or less like this: "I'm locking contact for "Never Winter" come play here, the guys who wanted to talk to you playing at the event too. Save the demo and start there. " It rehearsed in a weekend, another record in the studio of Cheb (Rodrigo NEP. - Chedi Recs.) And the other the weekend play at the event in question the "3 Hardcore Uberlândia. The recording process was smooth, there Cheb in the environment is very good, a track record release and other 3rd The first two tracks ( "intro" and "weight of the days") had the presence of a new member on guitar, João Pires, the last two ( "torment" and "technical") were recorded by the old training, the Roberto (Betinho, current vocalist) on second guitar. We are happy to have finally left. The receptivity of the public, it seems, has been good, some praise and invitations to play in other cities such as Rio and Cuiabá
- The band appeared at the end of 2006 and has undergone some changes in training until the current line-up. What changed the sound of the band of 2006 to today?
Indeed in August / September 2007 (with another name and still training). The main change was the departure of vocalist João Filho (niguin ") in 2008. In his absence we were in 4 (Paulo-down, battery-Michel, Igor and Roberto-guitar-guitar). This was a period of somewhat Brake much the pace in coming. The difficulty of finding someone to vocalize in the band, we use the domestic adjustment. The Roberto (Betinho) was willing to try singing. We think it worked, he is tanned and fit well for those who had never sung before. From there it was only adaptation, created very little. A little later the challenge was finding a second guitar for the supply that had been purchasing Betinho voices. That is why Igor knew a boy named John Smith, and know it short hardcore / punk called him for playing with us. In terms of tone some things were changing. In principle, the proposal was to sound more classic, the "Oldschool hardcore" in the style of many bands of the hardcore straight-edge culture that influenced the people. But we not only heard "Oldschool" and in the construction of the songs we podamos to keep us in a more classical. Gradually, within the possibilities and limitations of each as "scratched instruments, music making features that have escaped from some traditionalists. Included in the demo, we decided to record some songs not the earliest stage. The song entitled "Technical" was the last we make it look good and it has elements that escape the very hardcore "classic." We think we are maturing musically, not in trying to hold on music labels (the style and form) and trying to make a sound according to our capacity for refinement.
- Much is said in "scene" today. Do you think there really is a "hardcore scene" in Uberlândia? Or would only a group of people with tastes and preferences in common?
Legal question Marco Paulo. We do not know if we have a definitive answer to it, but risking something. We also use the term in quotes scene that only gives the impression that hardcore is just a big stage, as in the theater, where people wear a momentary fantasy. We think, if we do not know for many, but for some, perhaps a minority, there is a sense of belonging to something larger, a culture where certain values, feelings, remain as part of their lives to leave the local of shows (some say the idea of "hardcore as a lifestyle," the idea that "like to hear from the hardcore and live there are differences" etc). Hence the sense of speaking in "scene" and hardcore community, to which sound better. We think that perhaps there is an opposition between people with well-defined tastes and preferences in common and a "scene" (in the sense of community). If the tastes and preferences based learning in common, joint actions (such as organization of events), space-sharing, camaraderie, mutual support, tolerance, understanding, so perhaps there is the idea of a "scene".
- How do you evaluate the space for independent bands in the city?
Saying that there would be no lie, but are not extensive. The spaces for bands "independent" are usually the same as always (UFU if paint call GUM and other places, where a group is willing organize, rent the space and the potential damage ARQUE given lack of public). Very occasionally something has happened in places more "differentiated". In the past attempts happen bolder and events in parks, sports courts, houses of someone, old iron, etc.. Sometimes attempts to do so but are very sporadic. The path for bands "independent", which are many, is trying to create their own spaces, helping to build along with other bands and people that have affinities. DIY / FVM.
- And what you hear go lately? Some national banda you would like to indicate to readers?
Paul: I hear a fight of things ... At the moment I read the interview here I am enjoying at the drive in (USA) and verse (USA). Nationals who have heard and read are: cry in front of the eyes, fatigue, never winter, no more heroes, I will be the hyena, hurtmold, gaps, umnavio, pluie ...
Igor: Colligere, Confronto, Subject, AOK, Backsight, Newborn, Miles Away, Finger Pointing, With Honor, Bridge To Solace. Damn, there is a Brazilian band to indicate that the risk outcry Paulo quoted above and the new cd of Confronto - Sanctuarium.
- The alternative scenario / independent in general suffers a lack of support, space for events ... Not only the hardcore, or metal, or hip hop ... But realize that not many events roll mixing the "scenes" of the alternative ... Most times it is only hardcore, or metal only ... What is this? It would be more interesting for greater union of these "movements independent / alternative"?
The lack of support is the mark of the independent scene. The bid is the foray. Be interesting about the union / mixing of "scenes" responded the following: Maybe yes, maybe not. It may be interesting but can not. It is a very complicated discussion of "scenes" and union because it depends on each of the persons involved, the level of understanding and mutual tolerance, respect, etc, etc.. The launch of the mixture between culture and the culture of hardcore metal has become more frequent because there was a merger and incorporation of elements of the metal sound great in hardcore. An example of initiative here in the city is Cerradão Hardcore, at least in recent editions, has been mixing bands hardcore / punk band with metal calling the two "types" of public space for the same.
- Reading an interview of you, I found very nice what you said about the hardcore that was that "the hardcore / punk was not class, communist, anarchist, socialist, atheist, or whatever. While some bands have done consciously by the way, was not the general rule. We believe that the only possible definition is that the hardcore / punk was a creation of youth non-conventional. " I totally agree! Tell us a little more about it.
So, because we talk from time to time people in the "scene" arguing - and some of us have acted so - what "is" and that "is not" hardcore trying to define a formula. Today we see that the bid is more complex than simple frameworks and the only formula that seems to exist for the hardcore is your character multiforme. We think that the idea of hardcore / punk was a creation (and still have the mark) of youth non-conventional "- that was not and would not fit the standards of the current status quo - it leaves our broader understanding (and not "dogmatic").
- Recently rolled the 3rd edition of the show "Uberlândia Hardcore", which rolled the official launch of the demo for you. How was the show and the event in general?
In general, despite the lack of public, we thought was good. Sinned in some things like the delay, but we know that this was due to a number of circumstances. The highlights of the event, we were the presentations of Kids and Never Dull Winter movida and posture of the public in all bands, in addition to the fully independent manner to organize the event. We're happy for the invitation and the launch of the demo. V. not particularly enjoy our presentation, but are things that happen ...
- Coming to the end of the interview, we chat, the ball (the game topics and you say what comes to mind):
A movie: Fight Club
A show: the last XCHAMPIONX banda
A book: The Theater of Good and Evil (Galeano)
A city: Uberlândia "berrrrrrrrrlândia"
